Career highlights
As a member of the founding team of Lemonade (2016–2019), Gal created and developed the iconic brand and led the implementation of its visual identity across product, marketing, and beyond. Lemonade, which went public in 2020 (LMND), has changed insurance forever by making it a delightful experience.
Lecturing, mentoring, and advising, Gal has spoken at various programs and conferences, including OFFF (2019), Bezalel Academy, and more. By sharing the choices that shaped his career, his perspective on design, and what inspires him to create, Gal has helped thousands of designers grow.
Gal’s digital illustrations have gained massive exposure on YouTube, with some videos reaching over 4 million views. Through detailed, accessible, and inspiring documentation of the illustration process on the iPad, Gal inspired millions to start creating art themselves.
Color Hunt, created and founded in 2015 by Gal, has become a leading resource for designers and artists, with over 1 million monthly users. It features a huge collection of color palettes, all curated by Gal himself. Color Hunt became the #1 resource for colors within its first few years, positioning Gal as the owner of a well-known website.
In 2022, Gal created Rubber Duck Bath Party, an NFT collection that sold out within 24 hours. Featuring 10,000 generative artworks, the project gained significant publicity in the NFT space. It celebrated the beauty, humor, and fun of owning digital avatars through art, games, and stories.
The book View Insights by Gal Shir, published in 2019, sold more than 3,000 copies. It explored in depth what it was like to be a creator on social media during the pre-COVID era and was a must-read for digital creatives at the time. Gal also created several design tools and an app called Pose, with more than 40,000 licenses sold, that helps illustrators draw characters with ease.
